I have evse-wifi.
For OpenWB I can connect the charge meter to the esp8266 via modbus/uart adapter.
OpenWB will read the meter via API from esp.
For evcc I can use the Protoss and read directly the chargers via lan (pv, grid, charger).
I will experiment.

You have to differ the measurements:
a) charging current => SDM630 on ESP as you said (read by EWifi-API)
b) for PV-charging (i.e. zero-export) you need an additional smartmeter like SDM630 in your fuse box. In openWB you config it with software => "EVU-Modul".
Without that zero-Watt-control is impossible.

I know, the future PV system will be a Fronius Inverter (with integrated PV meter) + Fronius Smart Meter for the grid, as I will also send surplus energy to the grid.
